Los Angeles police officers ignored pleas for help and complaints by a man who said he couldn't breathe and later died in custody, reports show.
Jorge Azucena, 26, was arrested after he ran a red light last September.
After he was handcuffed, Azucena told officers he couldn't breathe and had asthma. Azucena had to be held up to take him to a patrol car.
One sergeant told him: "You can talk, so you can breathe," the Los Angeles Times reported Friday.
He began yelling to onlookers: "'Help me, help me, help me. I can't breathe. I can't breathe. Help me, please.'"
After being hauled inside, with his feet dragging, and laid on the floor, Azucena again stated he couldn't breathe, according to the reports.
One officer told him that he needed to "act like a man and walk."
Left face-down on the floor of a holding cell, about 40 minutes later he was later discovered not breathing.
The death was classified as an accident.

An accident huh? The man stated over and over and over again that he could'nt breathe. Are you cops deaf!? You also had to hold him up and drag him to the squad car and in to the police station as he could'nt walk on his own.
EMS should have immediately been called for this man.
This is no accident but outright plain negligent homicide. You thug cops should be prosecuted and jailed just like anyone else who commits a crime. But we know that won't happen and justice won't be served because your superiors will make up flimsy excuses for you.
You all think you are above the law. But their is another law you CAN'T escape. It is the law of nature that our GOD has put in place.... "WHAT COMES AROUND GOES AROUND". It always does!
